So, should this happen at at test…..the test would go on. I live in constant awe of Gusto’s skill. Today his work ethic and determination left me speechless. Which, temporarily, made me unable to support his amazing efforts. This track was 75” old (thank god). My goal was contaminated surfaces, I anticipated heavy left over contamination from yesterday…..not senior pep day today. please listen with sound on…….or you’ll miss how brilliant this sound sensitive dog is.
Trying to clarify test vs train. Test mode I want him to show me behaviors that I could easily read at a test. I never would have crossed the road with what he gave me, if we’d been at a test. Train is a confidence building process, and where I spend 98% of my time. I’ll pose a question to him, augment the track so that the track shows him the answer, and rewards him for getting it correct. My ultimate goal, like in the field, is to be invisible behind him.
I am impressed by his focus with all the noise and people trying to run into him! What would you have done if people were parked on your track?

Is that because you know where the track goes or am I indeed backing up too soon? Or change of cover so just be still and let him acclimate? And as I ponder, what is the benefit to standing still, i.e. patience Mary Ann !, vs. three steps back? Young inexperienced dog (handler learning his cues) vs. mature experienced dog (handler r…
What a very good boy he was! Well done both of you.
Nice work, Gusto!.
